Südharz-Kyffhäuser
Südharz-Kyffhäuser – Development and introduction of a public transport and mobility concept
The region Südharz-Kyffhäuser, which is made up of the two districts Mansfeld-Südharz and Kyffhäuserkreis, was selected for the project "Demographic change - the future of services in rural regions", as it is particularly affected by migration and the fall in birth rates.
As part of the project, these changing conditions were to be addressed by creatively planned, organisational and economically sustainable solutions, in order to continue to fulfil residents' mobility requirements using the mobility services available to the public. Both classic and flexibly designed public transport as well as voluntary and privately organised mobility services play a role here.
A fundamental part of the project is an active involvement of the regional and local players in the "regulars' transport".
Work on the project is done in cooperation with the regional transport system Berlin-Brandenburg and includes
- the development of a mobility framework concept for the entire project region,
- the development of planning, organisational and marketing concepts which are ready to be implemented in a pilot region and
- involvement in implementing the planned mobility services.
