VitaBIT

The SimoBIT project is based on the high-tech strategy and the action programme "Information Society Germany 2010" by the Federal Government of Germany. The aim is to support and accelerate the development and testing of secure mobile IT applications in order to foster economic growth in terms of gross value added.

The VitaBIT project based on SimoBIT focuses on the development of an open, extremely secure IT platform which is meant to support the transfer of and access to patient data. This platform also includes further application modules which allow the user to control data access, manage hospital staff schedules and enter customer profiles. The IT platform will help to improve exchange of information between senior citizen centres, hospitals, rehabilitation centres, doctor's surgeries and other health care organisations. The different institutions will be linked through the platform in order to improve efficiency in medical care.

The IT solution is based on a mobile device with communication interfaces. All data is collected by means of a memory stick. A special telephone allows the user to enter information via a touchscreen and to send images. The consortium consists of the following five local business partners: CAS Software AG, WIBU-Systems AG, FZI, PTV AG and Sozial- und Diakoniestation Weinstadt e.V (a social welfare organisation).
