Research for the sustainable development of future mega-cities
As part of this research programme, 10 project networks are funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. The aim is to develop sustainable solutions and strategies for the burgeoning of new mega-cities.
PTV AG is involved in the project "Climate and energy in a complex transition process towards sustainable strategies for Hyderabad“ with a focus on both energy-efficient and sustainable development of Greater Hyderabad's traffic. The Division of Resource Economics of the Humboldt University in Berlin is in charge of the project management.
Therefore, planning concepts have to be developed on an urban level required for the decision-making process concerning future transport systems and traffic infrastructure. It is also essential that the specific requirements of quickly growing cities are included in the planning process. Additionally, various pilot projects will demonstrate the feasibility of the approaches. For example, traffic management measures will be developed and implemented on the basis of participatory methods in order to provide citizen-orientated results. The concept of the project is based on a close cooperation in order to ensure knowledge exchange between the German and Indian project partners.
