ecoMove
ICT (information & communication technologies) and ITS (intelligent transport systems) applications & services have the potential to achieve cleaner and more energy-efficient mobility for people and goods. These technologies as specifically applied for environmental ends are collectively referred to as “Green ITS”.
The eCoMove project will test and validate a number such as “Green ITS” technologies. The eCoMove concept rests on the idea that, for a given trip by a particular driver in a particular vehicle, there is some least possible fuel consumption that could be achieved by the “perfect eco-driver” travelling through the “perfectly eco-managed” road network. In reality, both drivers and traffic management systems fall short of this ideal, thus fuel is wasted and CO2 emitted unnecessarily.
The eCoMove innovations will target the two main sources of this avoidable fuel consumption: private trips and freight/logistics trips.
PTV is actively involved in the key subprojects “Core Technology Integration”, “ecoFreight and Logistics” and “ecoTraffic Management and Control”.
