PTV AG invites researchers from all over the world to enter their groundbreaking ideas in a bid for the second PTV Vision Scientific Award. The award is given annually to reward outstanding accomplishment in research using the transportation planning tools VISUM or VISSIM.
Closing date for applications is May 1st 2009. Please forward all documents in English.
What are the prizes?
Three prizes will be awarded:
- The winner will receive €2,500.00 and will be invited to present his paper at next year's international PTV Vision Users Group Meeting 2009 in Germany
- The runner-up prize is €1,000.00, including an invitation to the PTV Users Group Meeting 2009
- The third prize winner will be invited to attend PTV Users Group Meeting 2009
Who is eligible to enter for the Award?
Papers can be submitted by academic researchers using PTV's VISUM and VISSIM software for their applications. Papers are eligible that have been presented or accepted at last year's scientific conferences. Bachelor's, Master's and doctoral theses will be accepted as well, but the author will have to submit a summary which may not exceed ten pages in total. Papers written by several authors will also be accepted. Should the paper be awarded a prize, the respective prize money is to be divided among the members of the group. However, the group will have to decide who will present the paper at the Users Group Meeting.
What other requirements must be respected concerning the content of the research paper?
An award-winning paper shall include one or more of the following aspects:
- it presents an innovative use of VISSIM or VISUM, i.e. it extends the range of applications
- it explores model behaviour and improves modelling practice by sharing this information with the user community
- it presents outstanding empirical insight or measurement data useful for better calibration of the core models
- it presents cutting-edge applications at the limits of the model capabilities
- it implements new models using the programming interfaces
- it points out attractive ways to further develop PTV Vision
Who will judge the papers?
The submitted papers will be judged by an international jury composed of transportation scientists. The first members are:
