Hardware and software requirements for PTV Vision VISSIM

In addition to the typical specifications of a common PC, these are the main requirements for PTV Vision VISSIM:

Operating systems

Microsoft® Windows® 7, Vista or XP;
for the 64-bit VISSIM edition a 64-bit operating system is essential
Microsoft® .NET Framework 2.0 (language independent installation setup is included in the VISSIM installation package)

Hardware

Speed: min. 2 GHz (faster computer speed results in faster simulation speed)
Memory (RAM): depending on the application. A minimum of 1 GB (2 GB for Windows® 7 and Vista) is essential. For large networks containing many cars and/or pedestrians more RAM is needed.
Hard disk space: depending on the installation settings up to 1 GB
Hardware lock (dongle) protection: one fully functional USB port
Graphics card: for 3D Graphics OpenGL®-support is essential.
Multi-core processors are recommended as VISSIM's multi-thread capability (since VISSIM version 5.10) allows for parallel computing and hence increases simulation speed compared to single-core processors. In addition, it speeds up simulation time if other tasks are to be done during a simulation run.

Data transfer/installation

Having CD/DVD driver and floppy driver will help. Alternatively an USB port can be used, in which case we recommend to notify the organizers. Please make sure that you have administrator rights to install software on your machine. The software can be seamlessly uninstalled after the User Group Meeting.

In addition to the typical specifications of a common PC, these are the main requirements for PTV Vision VISUM:

> 2 Ghz processor
Memory: at least 2 GB
17" monitor with a 1024 x 768 resolution as a minimum

Intel Core I7 (Triple Channel),
midsize modells: 6GB memory
large networks 12/24/48GB and VISUM 64 (Windows 64 required)
high resolution (1600x1200 or better)
Any graphics card is suitable for running PTV Vision VISUM
