10th Anniversary of the PTV Vision Users Group Meeting and Training, UK, 20-22 April 2010 in London - Review

This year PTV Vision UGM UK attendees celebrated the 10th anniversary of this event in London.
"I am quite proud of what it has become", said Sergio Grosso from PTV UK, who organises the event. "We wanted it like this from the start: a users meeting somehow owned by the users, that we, organisers, facilitate."
From 20th to 22nd April, more than 100 users met at Imperial College Business School in London to find out more about the latest developments and innovative application examples. Those who managed to come to London, despite the unforeseen difficulties caused by the volcano ash cloud over Europe, enjoyed a densely packed and informative meeting held at a perfect location.
We were very pleased to welcome Malcolm Buchanan from Colin Buchanan as our keynote speaker. Malcolm has long been an advocate of sustainable transport solutions and innovative ideas.
After two days of basic and advanced training sessions which focussed on the PTV Vision software tools VISUM and VISSIM, he successfully opened the users day with his presentation “Sustainable Transport, where do we stand now?“.
Furthermore the programme included presentations on the latest developments and application examples, such as “Day-to-day variability of intersection performance using micro-simulation” or “4- stage multi-modal demand modelling with VISUM”. Another highlight was the summary of weekly software application tips & tricks of the past ten years presented by Sergio Grosso.
We would like to thank Professor Mike Bell from Imperial College and his wife Reiko for hosting the 10th PTV Vision Users Group Meeting UK and for their outstanding support over the past years.
Many thanks also to all attendees. We look forward to next year’s event!
